New Tata AIA Policies Offer Monthly Income for Cancer Patients

Int’l Desk: Tata AIA Life Insurance has rolled out two fresh offerings designed to tackle the often overlooked financial strain that comes with a cancer diagnosis in India. The new plans, called Sampoorna Care Cancer and Sampoorna Care Cancer Fund, go beyond simply covering medical bills by also helping replace lost income during what can be a long and difficult recovery period.
With more than 1.57 million people diagnosed with cancer each year in the country, according to data from the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer, the timing feels particularly relevant. Tata AIA drew on its own consumer research while shaping these products and found that nearly half of those surveyed preferred receiving critical illness benefits as a steady income stream instead of one big lump sum payment. Among that group, a large majority leaned toward monthly installments, and many wanted the support to stretch over several years.
The flagship policy offers coverage of up to 50 lakh rupees or roughly 53,000 US dollars. Policyholders have the flexibility to take the full amount as a one-time payout, opt for regular monthly income, or blend the two approaches with an initial sum followed by ongoing payments that can last as long as five years. This structure aims to provide breathing room when treatment and recovery disrupt work and family finances.
Additional features include a 30-year guaranteed premium rate, a diagnostic benefit that helps with the costs of early-stage screening, and an overseas treatment booster that adds another 10 percent of the sum assured for care abroad if needed. The companion Cancer Fund product complements the main plan by focusing on longer-term savings protection and health-related expenses.
Industry observers note that these launches reflect a growing recognition among insurers that cancer care involves far more than hospital bills. By listening to what customers actually want in terms of payout flexibility; Tata AIA appears to be addressing real gaps in traditional critical illness covers. For many families facing such a diagnosis, the combination of medical costs and income loss can quickly become overwhelming, making products like these a potentially valuable safety net in an evolving insurance landscape.
