Zenith Islami Life Shariah Council holds 8th meeting

Press release: The 8th meeting of the Shariah Council of Zenith Islami Life Insurance PLC was held recently in the boardroom of the company’s head office, emphasising the insurer’s continued commitment to Shariah-based governance and ethical business practice.

The session was presided over by Principal Sayed Kamaluddin Zafree, Chairman of the Shariah Council. Under his management, the council serves as the key supervisory body ensuring that all product, policy and operation of Zenith Islami Life remain fully compliant with Islamic principles.

Senior leadership from the company’s Board and management were also present, reflecting the strategic significance of the council’s role. Among them were ATM Enayet Ullah, Vice Chairman of Zenith Islami Life and SM Nuruzzaman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, who also serves as Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Insurance Forum and an Executive Member of the Bangladesh Insurance Association. Their participation highlighted the alignment between corporate strategy, regulatory expectation and Shariah oversight.

The meeting was attended by prominent members of the Shariah Council, including Hafez Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, Member Secretary; Professor Mawlana ABM Mashum Billah; Professor Dr Mohammad Yusuf; AQM Shofiullah Arif; Mawlana Mufti Muhammad Badiul Alam Sarkar; Hafez Mawlana Ziaul Hasan; and Syed Jarir Jafri. The diverse academic, religious and professional background of these members contributes to a robust framework for Shariah interpretation and guidance in the company.

From the corporate side, Company Secretary Abdur Rahman and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Faruk Ahmed were also present among others.
