BIPD to host nat'l AI seminar on Dec 8

Staff Correspondent: The Bangladesh Institute for Professional Development (BIPD) will organise a national seminar titled ‘The Future of Professional Excellence and Artificial Intelligence (AI)’ on Dec 8 (Saturday) at the BIAM Auditorium in Dhaka, bringing together leading voices from academia, banking, insurance and technology to examine how AI is reshaping the country’s financial landscape.

The seminar will be chaired by BIPD Chairman and North South University Professor Dr Mohammad Shahadat Hossain. Sayeed Ahmed, President of the Bangladesh Insurance Association and Chairman of Global Insurance Limited, will attend as Chief Guest, while Dr Mohammad Sohorab Uddin, former Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank and a respected authority on financial-sector governance, will join as Special Guest. Their presence emphasises the growing urgency for AI-driven skill development across financial institutions.

Leading experts including A K Azizul Haque Chowdhury, FCII, Adviser to Bangladesh General Insurance Company PLC; S M Abdul Hakim, Director General of BIBM; and Professor Dr Md Shahidul Islam Zahid of the University of Dhaka will also address the event. The seminar will open with remarks from Professor Dr Mohammad Kaykobad, Chairman of BIPD’s Academic Council.

Throughout the day, discussions will focus on how AI is influencing innovation in insurance, strengthening digital banking security and accelerating data-driven decision-making. Sessions will explore emerging technologies in risk assessment, fraud detection, automation and advanced analytics- areas crucial for enhancing efficiency, resilience and customers’ trust in the financial sector.
