Farmers Insurance plans 1,700 new agency appointments

News desk: Farmers Insurance announced on March 31, 2026, plans to appoint nearly 1,700 new agency owners nationwide over the next year, marking one of the largest single-year expansions in its 95-year history.
According to a company statement, the recruitment initiative is aimed at driving organic growth, strengthening local market presence and positioning the insurer for long-term market share gains in the competitive property and casualty sector.
As part of the expansion, Farmers is launching an ‘Elite Owner Programme’ targeting entrepreneurs with significant capital to build or scale agency portfolios. The program is expected to focus on candidates capable of making substantial investments, with enhanced support and financial incentives designed to accelerate growth.
The move comes as Farmers seeks to revitalise its agency network and capitalise on improving conditions in parts of the insurance market, following a period marked by catastrophe losses and regulatory pressures across the industry. The company emphasised its continued commitment to independent agency distribution as a core driver of growth.
Farmers Insurance, a subsidiary of Zurich Insurance Group, provides auto, home, life, and commercial insurance products to millions of customers across the United States. The planned addition of new agency owners is expected to expand its geographic footprint and support increased policy sales through localised service.
