MetLife Bangladesh Installs Solar Power System to Meet Up to 10% of Energy Needs

Press Release: MetLife Bangladesh has installed a 104-kilowatt (kW) on-grid solar power system at its Motijheel head office, enabling the company to generate up to 10 percent of its electricity needs from renewable solar energy.
The new installation supports MetLife’s efforts to improve energy efficiency and strengthen sustainable business operations. The company, which has been serving customers in Bangladesh for more than 74 years, said the project reflects its continued investment in modern and environmentally responsible workplace improvements.
The rooftop solar system also aligns with Bangladesh’s broader push to expand the use of renewable energy. Commercial solar projects are increasingly viewed as an important part of the country’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable power sources.

“Sustainability is integral to how we operate and how we serve Bangladesh,” said Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh.
“By generating up to 10 percent of our energy needs through solar power at our historic head office, we are demonstrating that progress and preservation can go hand in hand. As the number one life insurance company in Bangladesh, we believe it is our responsibility to support national priorities while creating a more resilient future for our customers, employees, and communities,” he added.
The solar power system was implemented by Business Division 4 of Sena Kalyan Sangstha. According to MetLife, the project was completed in full compliance with national grid connection standards.
