Clear Group Buys Lloyd’s Wholesale Broker Newman Pearce

News Desk: The Clear Group has bought specialist Lloyd’s wholesale broker Newman Pearce & Partners in a deal that expands the London intermediary’s reach in the specialty market, according to a report published by Insurance Journal on August 24 2026.

The London-based independent insurance intermediary said it had acquired Newman Pearce & Partners LLP, known as NPP, a firm with a focused book of wholesale business placed at Lloyd’s. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The move comes as Clear Group continues to build its presence among independent brokers serving commercial clients who need access to the specialist capacity available in the London market.

Newman Pearce & Partners has operated as a wholesale broker handling placements for other intermediaries rather than dealing directly with policyholders. Its expertise sits in niche classes that often require the flexible underwriting found in Lloyd’s syndicates. By bringing the firm into its fold, Clear Group gains both the existing client relationships and the underwriting knowledge that NPP has developed over the years.

Industry watchers noted that the acquisition fits a broader pattern of consolidation among London market intermediaries. Independent groups have been adding specialist brokers to strengthen their offering and to secure greater scale in an increasingly competitive environment. Clear Group, already established as an independent player, appears to be using the purchase to deepen its wholesale capabilities rather than simply adding volume.

The deal was announced alongside other business moves in the same Insurance Journal roundup, including ANV’s agreement to buy a UK warranty managing general agent. For Clear Group the Newman Pearce acquisition stands out because it targets the core Lloyd’s wholesale space where relationships and specialist knowledge still matter heavily.
