InsuranceDekho-RenewBuy Merger Creates India’s Largest AI Insurance Distributor

Int’l Insurance Desk: InsuranceDekho and RenewBuy have joined forces to form what they describe as India’s largest AI-enabled insurance distribution platform measured by premium generated through point-of-sales persons. The combined business, announced this week, will operate under the InsuranceDekho brand and be led by Ankit Agrawal as chief executive, according to reports from The Economic Times.

As of March 31, the merged entity holds a premium book exceeding 6,600 crore rupees, a network of more than 600,000 digital partners and reach across 98.57 percent of India’s pin codes. Together, the two platforms have already helped issue more than two crore insurance policies since they began operations. The deal pairs InsuranceDekho’s established presence in northern and western India with RenewBuy’s stronger foothold in the south, creating a true pan-India footprint.

The platform will function as an open multi-insurer marketplace offering more than 750 products from 52 insurers across motor, health, life, travel and commercial lines. Integration will focus on combining InsuranceDekho’s real-time recommendation tools with RenewBuy’s technology capabilities to deliver automated partner onboarding, digital policy issuance and AI-powered advisory services. The goal is to give agents in smaller towns and villages the same digital tools and product access that metro partners already enjoy.

Agrawal said the combination brings complementary strengths in technology, on-ground distribution and insurer relationships, with immediate attention on disciplined execution and smooth integration. Balachander Sekhar, chief executive of RenewBuy, added that pairing technology depth with a skilled partner network should help equip agents with better tools and bring insurance within easier reach of more Indians. Founders from both companies will remain involved to maintain continuity.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The company’s position the move as a step toward closing the urban-rural insurance gap while competing more effectively with larger digital distributors.
