Unpaid Insurance Claims to be Paid on 14 September

5,868 Policyholders to Receive Tk 23 Crore in Second Phase: IDRA

Press Release: In the second phase of settling long-pending insurance claims, Tk 23 crore will be paid to 5,868 policyholders. The Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) has informed that this amount will be paid on 14 September.

In this phase, customers of five life insurance companies will receive the insurance claim money. The funds have been arranged from various sources, including the assets and security bonds of the concerned companies.

The largest amount will be given to the customers of Padma Islami Life Insurance. The company’s 3,600 policyholders will receive Tk 12 crore.

1,145 policyholders of Homeland Life Insurance will be given Tk 4 crore 98 lakh. 580 policyholders of Fareast Islami Life Insurance will receive Tk 5 crore.

In addition, 300 policyholders of Sunflower Life Insurance will be given Tk 55 lakh and 243 policyholders of Sunlife Insurance will receive Tk 50 lakh.

Earlier, on 3 September, in the first phase, claims amounting to Tk 14 crore 51 lakh of 2,549 policyholders of seven life insurance companies were settled.

Combining the two phases, claims amounting to Tk 37 crore 54 lakh of 8,417 policyholders have come under the settlement process.

IDRA has informed that this drive to settle unpaid legitimate claims will continue. The remaining claims will be paid in phases after verification and scrutiny.
