Insurance CEOs Stay Confident Despite Rising Pressures

Staff Correspondent: Insurance industry leaders remain upbeat about the future even as they navigate tighter rules and rising digital threats. KPMG’s latest Global CEO Outlook for the sector shows 82 percent of insurance chief executives feel confident about their own company’s growth prospects while 78 percent hold a positive view of the industry as a whole.
The survey points to artificial intelligence as the clear priority for investment. Seventy three percent of the CEOs ranked AI among their top spending areas and most expect to see returns within one to three years. Many plan to put between 10 and 20 percent of their technology budgets into AI projects aimed at streamlining claims handling risk analysis and customer service.
Despite the optimism the executives acknowledge real headwinds. Regulatory pressure continues to mount across multiple markets and cyber risks linked to digital expansion rank high on the worry list. Climate related exposures and broader economic uncertainty also feature in their thinking yet these concerns have not dented the overall confidence numbers.
KPMG released the findings in early October 2026 drawing responses from insurance leaders around the world. The results suggest that while the sector faces familiar and new challenges most bosses believe their firms can keep expanding by leaning into technology and operational improvements.
Whether that confidence holds will depend on how effectively the industry turns AI investments into measurable results and manages the regulatory and security issues that come with greater digital dependence.
