IDRA Sets New Office Schedule for Insurance Companies in Bangladesh

By Staff Correspondent: The Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) has revised the official working hours for all insurance companies and related institutions in Bangladesh, aligning them with the banking sector’s operating schedule.
According to a directive issued by the administration-2 wing of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority on Wednesday (24 June), insurance companies will now operate from 10am to 5pm, Sunday through Thursday. The revised schedule replaces the previous office timing structure and aims to ensure better coordination with banking operations across the financial sector.
Under the new arrangement, Sunday to Thursday will be full working days for all insurance companies, while Friday and Saturday will remain weekly holidays for the entire sector.
According to the directive, the decision has been taken in line with instructions from the Ministry of Public Administration dated 4 April 2026 and has received approval from the appropriate authorities.
While the revised schedule applies to all insurance companies and related organizations, IDRA itself will continue to follow its existing office hours. The regulator’s working time will remain unchanged from 9am to 4pm.
The order has been signed by the Deputy Secretary and Director (Administration) of IDRA, Bishwajit Kumar Paul. It has already been circulated to all relevant stakeholders, including the Life Insurance Corporation, General Insurance Corporation, Bangladesh Insurance Academy, Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA), as well as all life and non-life insurance companies and surveyor organizations.
The new directive takes immediate effect, according to the official notification.
