Former Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Sirajul Islam appointed IDRA member

Staff Correspondent: The Bangladesh government has appointed former Bangladesh Bank executive director and spokesperson Md Sirajul Islam as a member of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA).

He will serve as the regulator’s Member (Administration).

On Sunday (16 August), the Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance issued a notification.

According to the notification, Sirajul Islam has been appointed on a contractual basis for three years from the date he takes charge.

The appointment was made under Section 5(2) of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority Act, 2010.

Under the terms of the appointment, he must end all working relationships with other institutions and organisations before taking up the post.

His salary, allowances and other benefits will be determined through an agreement with the government, the notification said.

The order will take effect immediately.
