IDRA and BIA Hold Talks on Reinsurance Challenges in Bangladesh

Press Release: Bangladesh’s insurance regulator and industry representatives have discussed challenges facing the country’s reinsurance system, including ways to improve reinsurance capacity and strengthen the sector.

The meeting between the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) and the Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) was held on Monday (24 August) at the IDRA headquarters.

A four-member BIA delegation, led by its President Sayeed Ahmed MP, attended the meeting. IDRA Chairperson Mir Nadia Nivin and senior officials from the regulatory body were also present.

The discussions focused on the current state of Bangladesh’s reinsurance sector, existing challenges and possible measures to address them.

Participants stressed the need for closer coordination between the regulator and industry stakeholders to maintain stability in the sector. They also discussed steps to improve the capacity of the country’s reinsurance system and strengthen its ability to manage risks.
