Insurance Industry Projected to Hit $19.8 Trillion by 2035

Mashrukh Khan: The global insurance market is projected to nearly double in size over the coming decade, reaching around $19.8 trillion by 2035 according to analysis from Maximise Market Research. Valued at $9.5 trillion in 2025, the industry is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 7.6 percent from 2026 onward.
Asia Pacific is forecast to deliver the strongest incremental premium growth during this period. Expanding insurance penetration, sustained economic development and supportive regulatory shifts in key markets including China, India, Japan and South Korea are expected to underpin the region’s outperformance, while established markets across North America, Europe, South America, the Middle East and Africa continue to contribute to overall expansion.
Global industry revenue is anticipated to climb to $11 trillion by 2027 and $13.7 trillion by 2030, equating to an overall increase of roughly $10.2 trillion across the ten year horizon. Demand remains robust across life, health, property and casualty and reinsurance segments. Rising healthcare costs, an ageing population, climate related risks, growing cyber exposures and stronger appetite for pension and retirement solutions are among the principal drivers supporting this trajectory.
Insurers are also benefiting from operational improvements linked to technology adoption. Automated claims handling, artificial intelligence applications in underwriting, digital distribution platforms and embedded insurance offerings are helping carriers reduce costs while reaching a broader base of individual, commercial and public sector customers. Life insurance accounted for a substantial share of the market’s 2025 valuation, supported by ongoing demand for term cover, annuities and retirement planning products.
